Blog: Corona Emergency Aid

We write this blog to bring current attention to the incredible plight of people in India - and how we can help.

The Corona wave in the church at Trichy

Over the last few weeks the Corona infection wave has rolled over our staff members like a Tsunami. How many of the pastors, staff and MM girls were actually infected is hard to say for sure, as in reality the testing was only very basic. One female staff member with a heart condition was seriously ill, but has since recovered.

Then Gideon Jacob also caught the virus, and he was so ill that he had to be admitted to hospital.

A few days ago he was allowed home where he has to self-isolate, but he is still in an extremely weak condition following the illness and the treatment, it will take some time until he is fully recovered.

It is a miracle that his pre-existing sickness before the Covid 19 – improved "by itself", so that he was in a stable health condition when the virus caught him. He is also extremely grateful for the good medical treatment – which cannot be taken for granted in India - by Christian doctors and nurses. The other staff who became sick are also now without any symptoms. We are so grateful for God's protection, provision and help!

During this time, several campaigns have had to be put on the back-burner, or on ice for a while. For some months now a TV broadcaster has been showing Gideon's sermon during the peak early evening TV time. For as long as he is not able to preach at the moment, the broadcaster and the church are showing services on You Tube and on TV, which were recorded last year.

The church work continues to be carried out during the partially loosened lockdown in India, largely via digital meetings, provided that people have the necessary media equipment. Roughly half of the families have lost their jobs during this crisis and times are not easy. At the same time, the necessity to see Jesus as the Saviour who can turn things around, to preach this to the world and to pray with people, is greater than ever! For this reason, the Corona emergency food aid campaigns will be continued as soon as possible.

Thank you all for your continued faithful support, especially during these times! The medical treatment for now roughly 30 staff and MM girls, and all the costs for the necessary purchases for the isolation have caused us additional financial challenges.

More than anything else, we need your prayers for protection and for the full recovery and return to service of Gideon Jacob! We are extremely grateful to know you are behind us.

With your support we can help others!
