Blog: Corona Emergency Aid

We write this blog to bring current attention to the incredible plight of people in India - and how we can help.

An update on the help offered so far

Dear Friends,
The next Corona wave has hit us here in Inda. There over 126,789 registered cases of new infections (as of 8.4.2021) and the number of cases is rising daily. This has led to new lockdown measures being introduced. The government here has announced a tougher curfew, which forbids all religious services from being held in Tamil Nadu. (Extract from a letter by Gideon Jacob)

In the „Global Hunger-Index „ of 2020 India is at position 94 out of 107 countries. This shows the extent of the pandemic on this subcontinent, where 3,000 children die from hunger every day. Even though our aid may be like a drop of water on a hot stone, it does make a difference for each individual. Every single child whose life is saved counts, and every family who gets at least one warm meal a day, is incredibly grateful for this aid, as we have heard from many testimonies.

Here are a few figures showing the aid we have provided since the beginning:
In three large and several small campaigns we have in total provided 10,000 food packages at 15 Euro each, and of these 7,000 up until Christmas last year.

Some 3,000 families and individuals have now received such a food package from us three times. Most of these families comprise 4 – 5 people. They would not have survived without this aid. They came mainly from the Federal States of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Orissa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Punjab. Many of them were pastors' families and church members, but they also included needy persons, widows and parents of our MoseMinistires ladies.

We want to keep helping
The second wave has hit India, the number of infection cases is exploding and this means more unemployment, even more poverty and even more hunger. We would gladly like to distribute a further 10,000 food aid packages in the above States. 300 pastors have applied to receive a dairy cow, in order to build up a basic income and we would like to give electric wheelchairs to 15 disabled ladies, so that they can travel with greater ease along India's bumpy roads.

We still need your help, thank you.
